Exeter
We have come from southwest Exeter and are staying here for four nights. We have come here because of the beautiful scenery. To come up and explore the Malverns and to do some walking. Plenty of walking areas for us to go, and plenty of things for us to see and do. We even kept out of the rain yesterday, we were a bit lower, but we have come up a bit higher today. We have got the two young dogs, they need exercising and we need exercising.
The scenery up here, you can see for miles. Not quite so much today because of the haze, but normally you can see for miles. It’s just being out, meeting other people, and dogs like to meet people.
Flora and fauna. Seeing the harebells, and the different toadstools that are coming up already. I can recognise most of them, but I do have an app on the phone for those that we can’t identify. Being here has met my expectations because we have heard about the beacons and a bit of the history of the iron age hill fort. And going through the towns, it’s just different to what we have got down in Devon.
Being here, mentally I feel a lot better. I feel quite chilled out. Just to forget everything at home, to be up on top of the hills and the wind blowing, and just seeing the scenery. And thinking about what people are doing doing down there when I am just chilling out!

I feel exactly the same, it’s just great. We have got 21-year-old twin boys at home who can be a bit of a handful now and again, so coming up here is just leaving everyone to it. We can just come up here and relax and be ourselves.

Areas like this, just like Dartmoor, you are doing a lot of conservation. We don’t normally come to a really populated walking area, I think if it was a Saturday or Sunday or a high holiday, I wouldn’t come here because there would be too many people. But today, it’s fine, it’s acceptable. I think it is about getting the balance right between how many people come and preserving the place.

We do a lot of geocaching we which can do on our phones which helps us a lot when we do our walks.
