MHNL Grounded Conversations

About the Project

The Malvern Hills National Landscape (MHNL) has for a long time welcomed both visitors and residents who come to appreciate its beauties. The staff of the Malvern Hills NL are often too immersed in the day-to-day running of the area to understand what it is that people get from this National Landscape; and understanding that, is crucial to what we do now and plan for in the future. So we asked photographer and researcher Geoff Broadway, to ask a diverse range of people he met in the area to talk about what draws them to this place, how it benefits their health and well-being and the joy of their many long memories of this National Landscape.

The result is this project Grounded Conversations, a collection of nine (for the moment) personal stories and perspectives presented along carefully crafted photographic portraits.

The project is but a small window into the thoughts and motivations of a few of the many thousands of people who find purpose and meaning in this rich living landscape. Some of what has been said has been an education to the National Landscape staff, and will inform future projects. We are truly grateful to everyone who took part, for the education they’ve given us, the landscape-love they’ve expressed, and the memories shared of this unforgettable area.
